Who we are
Rooted in This Community
Underground Kitchen started with a simple idea: that great food should come from the ground up — from the farmer's hands to your curbside pickup.
How It Started
Underground Kitchen was born out of a love for honest food and a deep respect for the people who grow it. We started as a small dinner operation with a big belief — that a meal is only as good as the relationships behind it.
Gainesville has always been a city of community, creativity, and connection. Nestled at the heart of the historically African American 5th avenue community; we're surrounded by amazing neighbors, students, and families — and we cook for all of them.
Every Wednesday through Sunday, we open for curbside pick up to serve dinners built entirely around what's fresh, local, and in season. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just real food, made with care.
What We Stand For
What We Stand For
Farm First
We source from local North Central Florida farms and change our menu with the seasons. If it's not fresh, it's not on the plate.
Community Roots
We're not just a restaurant — we're a neighbor. We believe food is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together.
Honest Craft
Every dish is made from scratch, by hand, with intention. We take pride in the details because you deserve more than ordinary.
Our partners
The Partners Behind the Food
We're proud to work alongside these organizations who share our commitment to community, nourishment, and a stronger Gainesville.
